Musical Theater Ensemble – The Brigands – By audition only – see details below
Ages 11-18 * Tues/Thurs 4:00 – 7:00 * Theater/Studio * Feb. 5 - Apr. 24 * $500
Additional rehearsals may be scheduled on Sundays and during the final week before opening
The Brigands performs Apr. 25 & 26 and May 2, 3, 4, 9, 10 and 11
Auditions forThe Brigands will be held on Saturday, Jan.12 beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Cinnabar. Auditioners must prepare a song, no more than one minute in length. Please bring sheet music in your key. An accompanist will be provided. Callbacks will be held on Saturday, Jan. 19, from 10:00-1:00. Parents must attend callbacks for an important meeting. Auditions are by appointment only. Call 707.763.8920 to schedule an audition. All auditioners who are cast MUST enroll in Musical Theater Ensemble.
The Instructors:
Eileen Morris received her B.A. from UC San Diego. She has sung with nearly every regional opera company in the Bay Area and with Eugene Opera. Eileen is a long-time Cinnabar teacher & music director. She has directed a number of Young Rep productions, including Gilbert and Sullivan’s Iolanthe, The Pirates of Penzance, The Mikado, Orpheus in the Underworld, Bluebeard and It’s a Wonderful Life
Jared Emerson-Johnson has taught at Cinnabar for eleven years. He most recently music directed and conducted Offenbach's Orpheus in the Underworld and Bluebeard and the 2006 Cinnabar Summer Camp. He is the conductor and music director of Cinnabar's Community Chamber Ensemble. Jared is also a composer/sound designer with credits on several leading video-game and independent film titles. He holds a B.A. summa cum laude in music from Cornell.
Teen Acting Ensemble – The Blue Bird – By audition only – see details below

The Blue Bird performs Apr. 4, 5, 10, 11, 12 and 13
Auditions for The Blue Bird will be held on Saturday, Jan. 5 beginning at 11:00 am at Cinnabar. Auditionersmust prepare a monologue, story or poem not to exceed 2 minutes in length. It should be memorized. Callbacks will be held Monday, Jan. 7 from 5:00-8:00 pm.Auditions are by appointment only. Call 707.763.8920 to schedule an audition. All auditioners who are cast MUST enroll in the Teen Acting Ensemble.
The Instructor: Conrad Bishop is director of The Independent Eye, a professional ensemble that has toured the USA since 1974 (www.independenteye.org). A Stanford Ph.D., he has conducted workshops in hundreds of schools, has been a director and playwright for major regional theatres, and is a two-time recipient of National Endowment for the Arts Playwriting Fellowships. Last year he adapted and directed Cinnabar's The Hobbit and The Green Bird. He is also the instructor for Young Rep’s Summer Acting Intensive.
Primary Players – ages 4-6 Mondays 3:00 – 4:00 Studio Jan. 14 – Mar 17 (10 classes) $125
The Primary Players will focus on games and exercises to facilitate awareness, concentration, imagination and expression through movement and storytelling. We will explore story components and styles. As themes emerge, we will use them to create our own stories
Beginning Theater Workshop – ages 7-9 Mondays 4:15 – 5:15pm Studio Jan. 14 – Mar 17 (10 classes) $125
The Beginning Theater Workshop will be introduced to the basics of theater vocabulary, etiquette and character development. Using improvisation and excerpts of text, we will emphasize ensemble connection and discovery. We will work on building skills to support confidence in moving, speaking and being "on stage.”
Advanced Theater Workshop – ages 10-12 Mondays 5:30 – 6:30pm Studio Jan. 14 – Mar 17 (10 classes) $125
The Advanced Theater Workshop will address basic theater terminology and blocking, in addition to character development and etiquette. We will memorize text, identify and address challenges, and work more in depth on
coordinating the many facets of acting/performing.
The Instructor: Julie Marie Lewis is a Performer/Educator, recently relocated to Sonoma County from Seattle. She has worked with children of all ages in a variety of settings including classroom, youth outreach and special needs. A proud member of Actor's Equity, she has been a guest artist in the Townhall Program in NYC, developed theater-based curriculum and directed many plays with young children. She has taught classes at Sonoma Dance Arts, and choreographed Aladdin, during the Summer Repertory Theater at SRJC. Julie's early training began in classical voice. In Seattle, she performed regularly with a few groups - a capella quartet, a blues band and Playback Theater, in addition to teaching, recording and roles in regional productions. Favorite roles include Cruella DeVille and (tap dancing) Orca Whale#4.
Primary Music Theater Workshop – ages 5-7 * Wednesdays 3:30- 4:30 * Studio * Jan 16 – Mar. 19 (10 classes) * $150
PMTW will focus on stage presence and teamwork through games, movement, singing and acting exercises. Young performers will explore being in the spotlight as well as being part of the ensemble. The class will culminate in an “open final” performance of scenes from classic musical theater for an invited audience.
Beginning Music Theater Workshop – ages 8-11 * Wednesdays 4:45 – 6:00 * Studio * Jan 16 – Mar. 19 (10 classes) * $150
BMTW will focus on basic acting techniques, projection of the speaking and singing voices, stage movement and dance. Games will be used to encourage teamwork among performers and introduce basic elements of theater. The class will culminate in a performance of scenes from classic musical theater.
The Instructor: Melody Caspari, soprano, is a resident of Petaluma and local voice teacher who holds a BM in Opera Performance from CSU Long Beach’s Opera Institute. Ms Caspari has performed extensively throughout the Bay Area, and was most recently heard in the role of Anna Gomez in Cinnabar Theater’s The Consul. Ms. Caspari is this year’s winner of the Henry and Maria Holt Memorial Scholarship with West Bay Opera and Melody has taught voice and music classes to children since 1999.
Community Orchestra * ages 12 and up * dates and times to be determined after orchestra is assembled * no tuition

The Community Orchestra is a performance-driven course intended for the experienced student and community instrumentalist. The course will culminate in the performance of a large symphonic piece and at least one smaller orchestral work. Solid sight reading and some performance experience is a must; previous large ensemble experience is helpful, but not required.

Welcome spring with a song in your heart! Whether you sing on a regular basis or only in the shower, this is the class for you! Improve your skills while exploring music from a wide variety of composers. The ability to read music is extremely helpful, but not required. .
Chamber Chorus

Be part of a seasonal serenade that embodies music old and new celebrating the season of rebirth! This coed chorus is designed for those interested in delving into beautiful, challenging music from the classical repertory in a small-group, highly focused environment. Sight reading ability is extremely helpful, as is an interest in language, improving musicianship skills and having fun.
