Comics Stripped is a hybrid between NPR’s This
American Life and Woody Allen’s Broadway Danny
Rose - everybody telling great stories about a similar
topic, sort of This American Comedians Life. Host
Dave Pokorny picks a theme for each Stripped, and
guest artists riff on that theme. Though promising
a load of belly laughs, don’t expect your typical
evening of standup. Comics Stripped is unique: you
won’t get this intimate with these same performers at
any other venue. Picture a guest on a TV talk show
telling a great story, or a party with one of the guests
taking center stage.
Dave says: The reason I came up with the title Comics
Stripped is that the comics are up there “stripped”
talking to these 100 people like they were friends. I
like to capture the feeling of interesting stories that
just “happen” to have punch lines to them.
